1. Students picked up where they left off on their cut paper designs. Here are a few examples by Matisse. As we worked, we listened to Miles Davis’ album Birth of the Cool, which was released in 1957, the same year Fences is set.
2. When students finished, they received a copy of the Robert Frost poem MENDING WALL as well as a TPCASTT chart. Students followed the directions from TPCASTT to annotate and examine this poem about fences.
3. Notes on tragedy. Students received L4: Elements of Tragedy (Teacher Notes). We took the first page of notes together. We will finish the second page tomorrow.
