1. Focused freewrite: Summarize Romeo and Juliet so far in iambic pentameter.
2. Art review. Students looked at a lithograph depicting part of I.i and explained in their notebooks what the lithograph showed.
3. Reading guide. Students received the Reading Guide for the play (two sides: Timeline RJ/Romeo and Juliet RG). We filled out the main characters and a summary for Act I, scene i.
4. Reading I.i and I.ii. We listened the the rest of Act I, scene i and scene ii, answering questions as we read.
5. I.ii Tableaux Vivants. Students acted out three snapshots from scene 2.
HW: If you want your own copy of Romeo and Juliet to read at home, get it by the end of next week.

1. Focused freewrite: What does your character in your scene want? Why do they want it now?
2. Moving Shakespeare. Students learned some movement and blocking techniques to incorporate into their scenes.
HW: Find at least 10 places to include hand gestures in your lines. Begin familiarizing yourself with your lines and practicing them using Speaking Shakespeare techniques. Performances begin next Wednesday. Sonnet extra project due Monday!
