1. Freewrite

2. Vocabulary Test. Students took their vocab test today. If you were absent, you can take the test in class on Friday.

3. Parallelism in Politics! Students watched about fifteen minutes of the president’s victory speech delivered last night; as they watched, they identified examples of parallel structure by writing down the parallel elements. Here’s the speech:

3. Vocab notes. We took notes on #14, 15, and 16.

We will take ten minutes tomorrow to finish this. It is not homework.

The vocabulary test will be three sections: 1 section for SAT words in which you have to use each of our seven words in context in a sentence or paragraph you compose; 1 section for word parts in which you are given the prefix and you have to write out the definition; 1 section of multiple choice in which you must apply your knowledge of the word part to decode the meaning of new vocabulary words.
