Today, we finished reading the first chapter of To Kill a Mockingbird, which included some silly rumors.
1. Motif choice. Students all chose three motifs they would like to study in their readings. On Monday, they will be assigned one motif to follow based on these choices.
2. Reading. Students continued reading the novel with the audiobook and frequent breaks to check for understanding. Those reading Other Voices, Other Rooms joined me in the library, where we discussed how the motifs could be applied to our two novels.
3. Preview. At the end of class we previewed the weekend reading, which is very important to do!
HW: Regular – read Ch. 2, and 5-6 in To Kill a Mockingbird. You can skip Ch. 3-4. Take notes on your Reading Guide.
Honors – read through the end of Ch. 8.
If you’re reading Other Voices, Other Rooms, try to find your own copy. Your first two chapters of reading will be due on Wednesday.
