Day 68: Easing into nouns with “Night”

We spent about half of class (a whole 15 minutes!) passing back papers and organizing our binders. Students who had their binders organized in the time frame given received up to 5 points of extra credit on homework.

Students received their benchmark scores, which counted as a quiz grade. They know their score, so they can tell you at home! The scores will also appear on progress reports.

Then, we read the story “Night” by Bret Lott, focusing on his use of pronouns, not proper nouns, and diction to create an ominous mood.
