1. Students started by completing a little creative exercise based on To Kill a Mockingbird. If you were absent or lost it already, here it is: Through Their Eyes. We worked on this for about 20 minutes and then turned it in. Not done? Finish it for homework and put it in the box.
Check out this music video that is totally about Mayella Ewell:
2. Next, we worked in small groups to complete this chart of what happened during the trial chapters (17-20): Robert Ewell v Tom Robinson Graphic Organizer.
3. Finally, we had a rousing class discussion about what really happened on November 21st. Did Mayella’s father beat her? Kiss her? Rape her? Why did Mayella invite Tom into the yard? And why wouldn’t she say anything in court if she was in danger?
HW: Finish “Through their Eyes” and the Graphic Organizer if you’re not done. Turn into the homework box by Wednesday morning!
