Tuesday, November 4: Research on Fences

1. Warm-up: Students made a pro-con list about fences. Just fences. What are they good for? What’s bad about them? We took a few minutes on this and then discussed. Our next work of literature is the play Fences by August Wilson in which two central metaphors are made: that of building a fence, and that of playing baseball.

2. Next, students selected a word or phrase key to the history of Black Thought in America or the Civil Rights Movement. All students received this sheet and we went to the media center to research: Research for Key Phrase.

HW: Finish research if not done
