1. Focused freewrite on adulthood. We wrote and shared our ideas about what it means to be an adult.
2. Notes on the Bildungsroman. Students took notes on this sheet: bildungsroman notes (L10). We discussed the qualities of coming of age stories. Here’s a video to review:
3. Skits on bildungsroman. Students were grouped in teams to come up with and perform a skit showing the qualities of a bildungsroman. We performed these for the class.
4. Reading time. All students received one of these Bookmarks to schedule their reading progress. Groups met to decide what to read when. Then, students got Reading Log 1 to complete with their first section of reading for Monday.
HW: Read first section of your YA book (at least 1/4 of it) and fill out reading log 1 for Monday.
