Today, students learned how to do citations on Wikipedia. If you were absent, you will learn this tomorrow.
HW: Finish slideshow by tomorrow.
Here are the codes we used:
Open up Microsoft Word
Red = required
Blue = only one or two students will use this
Copy and paste into Word the five templates below:
***
NOVEL/BOOK {{cite book | last = | first = | authorlink = | coauthors = | title = | publisher = | series = | volume = | edition = | date = | location = | pages = | language = | url = | doi = | id = | isbn = | mr = | zbl = | jfm = }} TEMPLATE 2: JOURNAL/MAGAZINE {{cite journal | last = | first = | authorlink = | coauthors = | title = | journal = | volume = | issue = | pages = | publisher = | location = | date = | language = | url = | jstor = | issn = | doi = | id = | mr = | zbl = | jfm = | accessdate = }} NEWSPAPER {{cite news | last = | first = | coauthors = | title = | newspaper = | location = | pages = | language = | publisher = | date = | url = | accessdate = }} WEBSITE {{cite web | last = | first = | authorlink = | coauthors = | title = | work = | publisher = | date = | url = | format = | doi = | accessdate = }} VIDEO {{cite video | people = | title = | medium = | publisher = | location = | date = | url = }} ***
If you are using the same source for multiple quotes: at the beginning of the first time you insert the citation before the {{, copy and paste
replace <ref> with <ref name=nicknameforsource>
Instead of nicknameforsource, write the author’s last name or the name of the journal.
Then, the next time you use the source for a quote, you don’t have to put in the entire citation again. Just put in the reference box
<ref name=nicknameofsource/>
