It was a lovely first day for everyone!
If you need to contact me, my email address is (temporarily): alexa.garvoille@gmail.com. I will send out a mass introduction email to parents and students when the DPS email is set up (so you can add that address to your email, instead of the gmail address).
Here was our schedule for the day:
1. Seating assignments.
2. Quickwrite: If you were to write the story of your life, what would the first sentence be?
Let your personality show with the words you choose.
3. Turn in summer assignments. (Practice passing staplers and papers along the way; these kids are amazing at passing stuff around.) All summer assignments were due today, unless you received it within the past week. If you just received the summer assignment, it is due on Tuesday, 9/8 (two weeks from today). Check below for more info.
4. 3-2-1 Intro to the Course. All syllabi need to be signed by students and parents and returned by Friday, 8/28, if not earlier.
5. Some classes shared their 1st sentences to see whether their voice came through in their writing. Our memoir unit will focus on communicating self through writing.
